What a washout: Road’s game in Kidbrooke called off

THE Great British Summer got the better of another King’s Road game as the match against Roan and Lambethan CC was scrapped amid a heavy downpour.

Players ran from the pitch as a thunderstorm hit with less than a quarter of the planned 40-over clash played at John Roan School Playing Fields in Kidbrooke, south east London, yesterday.

The game, a hastily-arranged fixture after the scheduled opposition pulled out, had already been badly affected by rain and there was no chance of it restarting.

It follows a series of washouts this summer, including both the club’s tour matches on the Isle of Wight.

The Road will be hoping for better weather next weekend when they take on the London Itinerants in a key LPL match in Barnes.
