ABOUT US
King's Road Cricket and Social club was formed in the summer of 2008 by a group of loosely associated ladies and gentlemen who just wanted to play a spot of gentle cricket.
Unfortunately, the history of what happened in that historic first season - in which we only played four or five games - has been lost in the midst of time after Leon, erm, allegedly mislaid the scorebook.
Needless to say, since then every bugger has claimed to have made incredible feats on the field of play that are no longer recorded and can't be proved. What is known, however, is that Matt gave Paddy out LBW and Paddy wasn't best pleased. Paddy is no longer with the club.
Also, our first match was on Battersea Park against the Battersea Badgers and we won.
WELCOME to the website of South London’s finest, the King’s Road Cricket and Social Club.
We are a friendly team based around Battersea, Balham, Brixton, Tooting, Wandsworth, Clapham and Streatham.
Throughout the summer we organise games, mainly 40-over matches at the weekend – and our aim is always to have a good laugh.
The team also plays occasional Twenty20s, evening matches and the odd timed game.
Ability in the club is best described as “varied” and our emphasis is very much on enthusiasm and having a good time rather than skill.
Other clubs say that but we really mean it!
So if you fancy a knock for or against us, don’t hesitate to get in contact.
You’ll be guaranteed a warm welcome and we hope to see you soon.
The King’s Road Cricket and Social Club is an affiliated Friend of Surrey CCC.
For the 2012 season we are proud to be sponsored by Walworth-based cricket kit specialist It’s Just Cricket.
