It’s a walkover! Road stroll to win against OJ Wanderers in Surbiton

Bang ... Sham hits out

BACK with a bang – King’s Road skip Giles Fagan returned to form yesterday smacking 53 off 56 balls to lead his team to victory.

The Golden Oldie was the mainstay of the batting as the boys from Battersea racked up 170 in 35 overs against OJ Wanderers in Surbiton.

Handy knocks from Dan Sherman and Matt Cocken at the end also helped push up the score on a slow pitch badly affected by a heavy shower in the morning.

Another Orange Cap to make a welcome return – from injury – was Magic Man Adam Majeed.

Bowling for the first time this season, he conjured up a double-wicket maiden in the opening over to leave OJ reeling from the off.

Then, two from fellow opener Matt Small and three from Leon Watson off four overs, including two edges behind to wickie Giles, left the hosts right under the kosh.

A late fightback from the Wanderers had skipper Giles worried. But The Road finished the job as Sham De Silva bagged three to skittle the Wanderers for 139.

Sham’s first was a smart catch taken by Dan Howard close in, his second a smash into the deep held by Adam and his third a skied pull caught and bowled.

It was the second win in a week for King’s Road after they hammered the Thespian Thunderers last Thursday.

The team face Cairns Fudge next in a Twenty20 match at Tooting Bec Common in five days time.
