Roaders, I’d like to take this time to welcome you to the 2014 cricket season.
This is not a time for reminiscing though. Not a time for remember the Five Lions being demolished by your’s truly (although I personally enjoyed it).
Nor to recall of the blistering performance of Sherman, Lomas and the rest of the Super Test team, SHAMING the Battersea Badgers and earning a draw that left them clinging on with those rubbish claws that badgers have.
Nor is it a time to remember the B’n’B that Jamie Keats found for the Ferring game, a place I’m reliably informed was something as bad as some of the batting collapses we’ve suffered over seasons past.
But like I say, this isn’t a time for looking backwards, but to look forward. To look forward to the bumper season of cricket we have ahead of us.
Twenty-nine glorious days of cricket that our Fixtures Secretary has found. THANK YOU, FIXTURES SECRETARY!
We look forward to more memorable batting displays, deft fielding, and supreme bowling performances.
We look forward to the far flung and exotic places we’ll visit on the road. We’re going as far as BRISTOL, I mean, have your passports handy for that one.
But mostly, we look forward to a summer of warm days, sunny evenings, and beer gardens, toasting wins with the lads (and associated lady-friends).
Let’s face it, if last year’s Player of the Season & India’s Number One, Shailesh Joshi, could tell you one thing, he’d say “King’s Road is the best cricket club in the world”. That’s why he’s coming back…
Well Playing, King’s Road, Well Playing.
