LPL champs rain supreme as season ends with a draw and a washout in Ferring

The Road’s glorious season ended in a washout on the south coast asย Mark Isham took his incredible wicket-taking tally to 12 in three games.

With The Road on a two-match mini-tour to his home town of Ferring, the beanpole seamer claimed 2 for 37 and took three catches as the first encounter ended in a draw.

Skipper Matt Cocken grabbed the top figures with 3 for 31 as Ferring’s Saturday side hit 210 before declaring at tea having faced 40 overs.

Matt Glover had forced a spectacular run-out with a direct hit and Jamie Keating also picked up a wicket, while Edwards top scored for Ferring with 54.

Given two and a half hours to reach the target, Sham De Silva stroked 38 but King’s Road ran out of time to force a win as Shailesh Joshi finished 21 not out.

Mark’s dad Bill – turning out for The Road against his team – opened up scoring 12.

In the second game, played the following day on the same pitch but against a wholly different XI, The Road went in to bat with Mark and Shailesh Joshi opening.

But shortly after the heavens opened and play had to be abandoned.

Shailesh, who was playing in his last match for King’s Road before returning to India for a year hit **, while Mark notched 10.

It put a damp end to The Road’s historic league title-winning season.
