Cairns Fudge found victory tasted sweet – because King’s Road couldn’t bat for toffee.
The Orange Caps were skittled out for just 74, with no player reaching double figures.
Only the performance of Michael Rossi provided any comfort for The Road, with a four-wicket bounty as The Road fought back in the field following an abject display with the bat.
Opener Raju Mazumder was cleaned up by an in-swinging yorkie in the opening over for a duck.
Jon “Mally” Malsingh was bowled by one which kept very low for 4, but David Hughes and Lomas Persad were able to boost the score to 31 despite a typically random Wandsworth Common pitch which was doing allsorts.
Persad was caught for 8 – the top score in a rocky Road display – and when Jack Caesar, who normally revels in attacking the bowling, was caught behind attempting to hook for 6, the Orange Caps were at 40 for 4.
That became 40 for 5 when Hughes was clean bowled for 7 after a lengthy stay at the crease which was no picnic.
Dan Howard was the next man out, offering a return catch to Dave Yarwood – who took 3-10 – as the Orange Caps’ scorecard gathered so many 0s it looked like a pack of polos.
Relying on Rossi, Amir an James Couldrey to be the first of the team to reach double figures.

Dan Sherman was the next of the snickers behind, caught by keeper Daf Howells off a thin edge.
India’s No 1 Shailesh Joshi was run out for 0, with the score on 48 for 8, but The Road’s innings got back on track with a partnership of 26 between James Couldrey (5) and Amir Alipour-Mehraban (0*) – mainly thanks to a dream performance by extras.
Rossi was the last man out, for 0, but after the timeout he soon had the ball in his hand and the chance to send the Fudge packing.
After an opening spell from Couldrey (0-17 off 3) and Joshi (1-24 off 5), spin duo Rossi and Persad started to give it a twirl.
While Lomas (1 for 6 off 6) was finding plenty of turn and drifter it was Rossi, and his mastery of flyte, whose bowling was all gold as he took 4 for 22 off 7.

There were no butterfingers from the King’s Road fielders, with fantastic catches from Howard, Lomas and Mazumder as the Orange Caps made it as tough as possible for Cairns Fudge to chase down the meagre total.
But in the end it was the Fudge who had the celebrations as they completed a four wicket win, opener Paul Griffiths top scoring with 17.
