Natwest Bank’s pitch booking defaults as match in Beckenham is called off

Bowled! ... Keats missing a straight one

KING’S Road were left frustrated after today’s match with Natwest 4th XI was called off.

The game in Copers Cope Road, Beckenham, had to be abandoned because the pitch was double-booked with a wedding.

It was the second match in a row that has been ditched after Why Not CC couldn’t put together a team last week.

Today, Chris Ashton and Ben Thornton were due to make their debuts.

Sham De Silva was also due to skipper the side for the first time and Dan Sherman was ready to don the gloves as a stand-in keeper.

But the disappointed players will now have to wait for another opportunity.

The Road kick of their Twenty20 season against the LPL Barbarians on Wednesday evening at Tooting Bec Common.

The team then head off on their summer tour to Yorkshire to play another Twenty20 on Friday and a 40 over game on the Sunday.
