Captaincy race hots up as ‘Dr Gilo’ takes his campaign on to the telly

CAPTAINCY candidate Giles Fagan appeared on daytime telly today – piling the pressure on election rival Matt Cocken.

Viewers were treated to a virtuoso performance by the King’s Road actor in hit BBC drama Doctors that showed he could have the talent to be The Road’s next captain.

According to Gilo, he played a “little shit”. Batsman Dan Sherman, who saw the show, was impressed.

He said: “Giles looked all casual in his dressing gown in the opening scene. It was very dramatic.”

Giles has put his name forward to challenge current club skip Matt to become The Road’s on-field captain in 2011.

But he’s sure to face strong opposition from the big Northerner who’s hoping to build on his first year in charge.

On Sunday, Matt is taking members of the squad to stay in his plush pad in Bulgaria on the King’s Road “winter training camp”.

A vote will be held in the next three weeks to decide the captaincy before the winner is announced on February 12.
