Candidates clash in ‘ugliest captaincy election in King’s Road history’

THE race to be the new face of the King’s Road has become the ‘ugliest in the club’s history’, it was claimed today.

Current skip James Couldrey and former skip Matt Cocken are fighting it out to lead The Road in 2013 after the first vote was split.

The draw triggered a second round of voting before the ballot closes on March 1.

But since the first round result was announced at the club AGM, James and Matt have been at each others’ throats.

Both sides have accused the other of dirty tricks.

Sources in James’s camp claimed Matt would ‘do anything’ for a vote, while a source in Matt’s campaign said his rival was ‘WIDE’ of the mark.

But both sides did agree the election was at least twice as ugly as the last time either James or Matt ran for election.

The candidates are said to be working on an election pitch to be published on the club website in the next few days.
