Brushing off the cobwebs at the first pract-ice in Clapham

BRRR-AVE King’s Road battled freezing temperatures to turn up the heat in their first net of the year.

Ten hardy team members bowled in the cold to kick off 2010 at Clapham Common on Sunday.

It was the first time the Orange Caps have got together to hone their skills since September.

Captain Raju Mazumder said: “The brave soldiers were Dan Howard, David Hughes, Ali Rizwan, Amir Alipour, Adam Majeed, Giles Fagan, Matt Cocken, Matt Small, Elliott Small and myself.

“To note, two bats were broken (Dave’s and Matt’s), Giles did get clean bowled, Amir bowled a few enticing deliveries.

“Aliโ€™s backlift is West Indian and Dan found some devilish pace but also found his beamer length.”

The Road will hold its first social event of the season on Saturday, January 9, followed by the annual general meeting on January 23.

Anyone interesting in getting playing a part in the club in 2010 is invited to both events. Details will be announced later.
