Ay-up Goughie! England legend wishes King’s Road good luck

Chuffin’ ‘eck! England legend Darren Gough has taken time out from his busy Euro 2012 schedule to show his support for The Road.

The 42-year-old speedster turned TalkSport presenter is at the tournament reporting on his second favourite sport – ball-chasing.

But that was until Goughie heard about the Orange Caps’ world-famous exploits on the cricket pitches of south London thanks to the boyfriend of one of the team’s workmates.

And, after being so impressed with our sporting prowess, The Road’s newest fan couldn’t stop himself from wishing us all the best on YouTube.

Privately, Barnsley boy Goughie even admitted he’s gutted he isn’t 10 years younger and maybe then he’d make it into our line-up.

Yorkshire’s favourite son is the latest in a long line of cricketers and celebrities to back the famous King’s Road.

From the world of entertainment there’s been ruthless screen baddie Idris Elba from The Wire, ex SAS hardman Andy McNabb, Going for Gold host Henry Kelly, telly egghead Professor Brian Cox and funnyman David Mitchell.

And from the world of sport there’s been among others Goughie’s former teammate Mike Atherton, England cricket captain Andrew Strauss, rugby supremo Rob Andrew and Chelsea skip John Terry.
